Welcome to my site. I am Ravit, an Israeli-Canadian ceramic artist based in Toronto. My practice is a constant dance of form, texture, and decoration, balancing the line between functional object and expressive art. Inspired by mixed media, I treat the clay surface as a canvas, layering underglazes, slips, terra sigillata, and washes. I love the greenware stage best, where the clay is responsive to carving, resist, and textile textures. While I revel in the tactile process of building and decorating, I admit I would happily skip the clear glazing stage if I could.
